Weston Historical Commission clears three demolition delay applications in single session
WESTON — January 13, 2026 — Weston Historical Commission approved three Demolition Delay Bylaw applications and heard that the Friends of the Weston Depot have taken ownership of the historic station. At the January 13 meeting, the four-member quorum — including Co-Chair Phyllis Halpern and member Henry S. Stone, Jr. — voted unanimously on all seven items on the agenda. Homeowners at 103 Loring Road were cleared to replace street-facing windows with Harvey Majesty aluminum-clad wood units, though members cautioned against vinyl windows at the rear, noting they "fail every 20, 30 years." Two deteriorated 1940 outbuildings at 82 Oxbow Road were declared not historically significant, clearing the path to ZBA for a proposed garage and accessory dwelling unit. At 125 Newton Street, a circa-1870 Italianate farmhouse, the commission approved full HardiePlank siding replacement and exterior door work. A Friends of the Weston Depot representative reported the nonprofit now owns the Depot building, expects to finalize a 99-year MBTA lease within weeks, and will begin emergency stabilization immediately with local restoration specialist John Veal.
