Weston Open Space Plan Cleared for State Submission by May 8 Deadline

WESTON — April 30, 2026 — Weston's open space committee moves to submit its long-delayed recreation plan to the state by May 8. Meeting Thursday without a quorum, the Committee on Open Space and Recreation Plan reached informal consensus to incorporate revisions from the Planning Board, Select Board, Historical Commission, and other town bodies before filing the Open Space and Recreation Plan with the state Department of Conservation and Recreation. Changes include updated language on MBTA Communities Section 3A zoning, removal of a development-pattern description the Planning Board could not verify, new references to the Dover Amendment and accessory dwelling unit law, and minor action-plan edits on trail signage and tree management. Staff noted state approval would make Weston eligible for open space and recreation grant funding it has not historically sought.
