Weston Planning Board Continues Regis Senior Housing Hearing, Approves Golf Camp Permit
WESTON — June 3, 2026 — Weston Planning Board continues Regis College senior housing hearing, flags affordable unit compliance risk. The board voted 5-0 at its June 3 meeting to continue a hearing on HYM Investment Group's proposal to build a 185-unit senior living facility — plus 30 townhomes — on the Regis College campus at 300 Wellesley Street, with a continued hearing set for June 17. Abutter Ken Morrison, of 301 Wellesley Street, told the board he had confirmed with the Regional Housing Services Office that the state's Housing Low Income Calculator will not credit affordable units in a 55-plus community that excludes children, meaning the project's 10 percent affordability commitment could yield zero units on the town's Subsidized Housing Inventory. Member Leslie Glynn said the town "cannot afford to go backward on any level to the 10 percent affordability" and called the three-to-five year window to reaching the SHI threshold critical. The board also unanimously approved a summer camp special permit for the Weston Kids Club at the Weston Golf Club, and deferred final action on a site plan amendment for the proposed Woods restaurant at the Josiah Smith Tavern pending ZBA rulings on parking and occupancy — a dispute centering on whether on-street spaces can count toward the building's required off-street parking total.
