Weston School Building Committee Unanimously Approves Two MSBA Deliverables for Submission

WESTON — June 4, 2026 — Weston School Building Committee approves two state deliverables and eyes November town meeting vote on $3 million school feasibility study. The committee voted 5-0 at its June 4 meeting to approve and submit the education profile questionnaire and enrollment projection to the Massachusetts School Building Authority, meeting a June 30 deadline and allowing cancellation of the committee's June 25 session. Chair Ken announced the MSBA had already accepted the committee's earlier SBC submission without objection, and that the Select Board has nominated John McDonald to a new committee seat pending a School Committee vote to amend the panel's charge. The committee's proposed fall schedule runs from August 27 through a November 23 town meeting, where members are currently planning to seek approximately $3 million for a feasibility study, with 31 percent of that amount potentially reimbursable by the MSBA. Member Dan explained that the authority employs its own demographers and will issue an independent enrollment determination rather than relying on the town's projection, which shows students growing from 2,111 to a possible 2,586 over ten years. A signed reimbursement funding agreement with the MSBA would be required by December 28 if town meeting approves the appropriation.
