Weston School Committee Adjourns FY27 Budget Hearing After Three Minutes
WESTON — February 2, 2026 — Weston School Committee adjourned its required FY27 budget public hearing after just three minutes, citing a snowstorm forecast that never arrived. Chair Adam Newman opened the remote session at 7:01 p.m. on February 2 and immediately announced that, on the advice of legal counsel, the committee would adjourn rather than risk holding a public hearing that might not allow safe attendance or meaningful participation. The hearing was continued to the following evening, February 3, at Case House in Weston, with Zoom access preserved. Vice Chair Daina Selvig moved to adjourn and carry all agenda items to Tuesday; the motion passed 5-0 on a roll call vote, with members Selvig, Kenneth Newberg, Tiao Xie, Jane Li, and Newman all voting aye. The full FY27 budget hearing, the superintendent's budget discussion, and authorization of a School Building Committee were all deferred.
