Weston traffic panel commits to Cherry Brook Road safety vote in May

WESTON — April 16, 2026 — Weston's Traffic and Sidewalk Committee pledged May votes on Cherry Brook Road safety measures after residents described a dangerous blind curve made worse by sports-event parking. Newly elected chair Rebecca McCurray presided over the April 16 meeting, where residents from Cherry Brook Road and Captain Kelly of the Weston Police Department described vehicles regularly forcing drivers into opposing lanes approaching a vegetation-obscured curve near Pollywog Road. Kelly, who called the situation "unique" in 25 years on the force, backed no-parking signage as the minimum necessary step, noting a reported crash record of roughly one incident in five years does not capture near-misses. The committee also unanimously set May 19 as the date for a second Route 30 community meeting, a project carrying an estimated federal construction cost of $18,518,251.70 funded through the 2028 Boston MPO Transportation Improvement Program. A Hillcrest Road resident's five-year driveway-obstruction dispute and a proposed town-wide switch to ladder-pattern crosswalks were likewise queued for May votes before any action can proceed to the Select Board.
