Weston Unified Plan Committee elects new vice chair, advances housing review

WESTON — February 9, 2026 — Weston's Unified Plan Committee elected a new co-vice chair and debated contested housing language at its February 9 meeting. The committee unanimously elected Marga Hutcheson as a second co-vice chair, filling a seat vacated by a departing member, on a motion by Jon Harris seconded by Diana Chaplin. Members spent most of the session reviewing draft Issues and Opportunities summaries for housing and economic development, agreeing to explore combining the housing and land use sections to eliminate repetition and asking Town Planner Imai Aiu to verify that consolidation would not affect required reporting protocols. Planning Board Chair Leslie Glynn read aloud a draft rewrite of the affordable housing subsection on the spot, and members flagged the need for a glossary of terms after finding inconsistent use of "moderate," "median," and "affordable" throughout the document. The committee tabled minutes from a prior meeting after members raised concerns that draft language about a contested 40B property at 751 Boston Post Road drew unsupported inferences about a town official's financial benefit from the sale.
