Weston ZBA Approves Stone Wall Modification at 269 North Avenue, 2-1
WESTON — April 13, 2026 — Weston ZBA approves redesigned stone wall at 269 North Avenue as developer drops blasting request. The Zoning Board of Appeals voted 2-1 on April 13 to modify the comprehensive permit for the 40B project at 269 North Avenue, approving a replacement dry-laid New England fieldstone wall along the property's frontage after the petitioner, 269 North Ave LLC, withdrew a companion request to blast ledge for septic tank installation. Acting Chair Jane Fisher Carlson and member Laura Mintz voted in favor; Chair Stephen LaRock opposed. Attorney Adam Costa of Mead Tellerman and Costa said the blasting was withdrawn following board and neighborhood resistance, though he noted drilling and hammering would still be required. The approved wall, designed by High Point Engineering landscape architect Michael Radner, will be located entirely on the petitioner's property and stand between 24 and 30 inches high, with the final height to be set in consultation with Town Planner Emai. Nine neighbors, represented by a speaker named Mazicek, had argued the board's substantial-change finding covered ledge removal by any method and urged conditions including seismic monitoring and a damage liability bond, but board counsel George Pucci of KP Law ruled those issues fell outside the hearing's scope.
