Weston Planning Board reviews $40-53 million fire station overhaul plan
WESTON — April 1, 2026 — Weston Planning Board receives $40-53 million fire station proposal for May town meeting vote. Fire station working group co-chair Tom Palmer presented plans for a new 24,000-square-foot primary station at Field 13 on the middle school campus, estimated at $34-38 million, plus a $7.5-14 million renovation of the existing town center station — down from a $70 million prior estimate when adjusted for cost escalation. The May warrant includes a $3.1 million design-funds article. Town Planner Yemaya Iu noted the new station will require a Planning Board special permit because the site falls within the aquifer protection overlay district. The board also voted unanimously to transmit Chair Leslie Glynn's corrections and supplemental comments on the town's Open Space and Recreation Plan to working group coordinator Jordan, and approved the 56 Ridgeway scenic road site plan with an added massing condition — though an abutter told the board the applicant had still not contacted neighbors about the tennis court location required under the approval's conditions.
