Weston Traffic Panel Votes Three Safety Fixes for Select Board Review

WESTON — May 21, 2026 — Weston's Traffic and Sidewalk Committee voted three unanimous safety recommendations to the Select Board at its May 21 online meeting. Chair Anne Weedy led the committee to approve a memo directing the DPW to recommend ladder-design repainting of the Wellesley Street crosswalk at Maple Street and Meadowbrook Road, where ladder markings had been discontinued for budget reasons after the town switched to more expensive epoxy paint. The committee also recommended no-parking signage on both sides of Cherry Brook Road in an approximately 115-foot stretch near the municipal ball field and Polliwog Road corner — a blind-curve hazard documented by at least one vehicle collision — along with vegetation trimming to improve sight lines. A third vote backed no-parking signage along roughly 74 feet of Hillcrest Road at number 16, the culmination of a dispute dating to 2020 that Captain Kelly of the Weston Police Department called "a unique situation" in 25 years of service. Member Richard Flynn pressed for a formal written process for handling public correspondence, citing two Route 30 emails responded to by individual members before full committee review, and the panel tentatively scheduled a Route 30 open-house breakout session for June 30 pending consultant availability.
